Erin Champion | Director
Erin Champion graduated from Mansfield University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Art Education, and from Marywood University with her Master's in Fine Art in Studio Art with a concentration in Printmaking. Erin has over 17 years of teaching experience across all age groups and media, including ten years at the college level. She is a celebrated printmaker, and has shown her work around the world. Champion loves working with the students at One River and helping them grow their creativity and love of art.
Viviana Maciel | Director of Education
Viviana Maciel graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor’s in Fine Art with a concentration in Studio Art. She specializes in drawing and sculpture, and uses both to explore the range of human emotions. A passion for guiding others in refining their craft led her to begin her teaching journey over 15 years ago. Maciel loves working at One River because she is able to push her students to become better artists while also empowering them to be and discover their true selves.
Madelyn Zachara | Assistant Director of Member Services
Madelyn Zachara graduated from Rutgers University with a Master's degree in Art History, and from Bucknell University with a Bachelor's in Art History and Anthropology. She has museum docent and gallery attendant experience, in addition to several years of customer service experience. She is looking forward to working with the students to make art more accessible by providing different perspectives through which to view established traditions. She is excited to contribute to students' growth and passion for art as they uncover the focus of their art making practice.
TJ Rivera | Assistant Director of Education
TJ Rivera graduated from Kean University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in Illustration and Printmaking and a Minor in Art History. TJ is a multi-faceted artist who does a variety of works with various mediums such as digital character designs, abstract paintings and woodblock prints. TJ is also currently in pursuit of his Masters of Fine Arts Teaching Certification from Kean University. Through his study of creating and teaching art, TJ hopes to share his joy of making art with the students of One River.
In-Studio Educators
Alexis Barckley | Instructor
Alexis Barckley graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts, and a minor in Psychology. She is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Social Work. Alexis focused on ceramics while obtaining her degree, but currently focuses on painting, both digitally and in the studio. Barckley loves working at One River because it gives her an opportunity to be creative with her students and watch them grow their skills while learning about new artists.
Alison Hooper | Instructor
Alison received her Bachelor's of Fine Art from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master's of Art Education from Kean University. Her personal art passions include Mixed Media Sculpture, Ceramics and Photography. Alison is excited to be a part of the One River School where she has the opportunity to share her enthusiasm for the arts, encourage students to explore their inner creativity and produce art that brings them joy.
Tim Brown | Instructor
Tim Brown graduated from the College of New Jersey with a Bachelor’s in Art in Art Education. Tim specializes in graphic comic art as well as colored pencil renderings, both traditionally and digitally. He currently is an elementary school art teacher at a nearby private school. Brown looks forward to sharing his talents with the students of One River, while also learning from the other great artists that are a part of the One River transformation.
Michael Moran | Instructor
Mike Moran graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Commercial Art. His illustrations have been used in children's books, major publications, and animations, to name a few. His clients are diverse and numerous, including Disney, American Greetings, Harper Collins, New York Times, and many more. Mike is a celebrated gallery artist who has had solo and group shows across the US. What drew him to One River was the opportunity to have students be creative all with a smile.
Irene Domingo | Instructor
Irene Domingo graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor’s in Fine Art in Studio Art with a concentration in Ceramics, and a minor in Art History. Irene is a multi-disciplined artist specializing in drawing, illustration, digital, and ceramic sculpture. Her works of art bring fantasy into the realm of reality and she looks forward to sharing her knowledge and skills while creating an environment in which students of One River can engage in creative exploration.
Kate Annen | Instructor
Kate Annen graduated from the University of Cape Town with a B.A.(Art), H.D.E. and brings international experience having lived in South Africa, Germany and the United States. Kate has taught all ages, but mainly High School Art concentrating on Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media, Ceramics and History of Art and Architecture. She takes great pleasure encouraging personal growth, exploration, and a love for art in all her students.
Jessica Martell | Instructor
Jessica Martell graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor’s in Art Education and a Minor in Art History. Jessica specializes in painting, printmaking, and pottery-making. She is currently an elementary school art teacher and enjoys sharing her knowledge with her students and watching them grow as artists. She is looking forward to cultivating an appreciation of art in her students that contributes to them leading a fulfilling life.
Alyssa Lopez | Instructor
Alyssa Lopez, born and raised in New Jersey, began her education at F.I.T for Fashion Design and Illustration and completed her AA in the Arts at Brookdale. She has completed two apprenticeships. One under Tom Smith, a Marvel Studios Colorist on the Spider Man comics. The other, Richard Botto, an award winning equestrian portrait artist. Alyssa likes to work in all mediums. Alyssa hopes to continue spreading her love and knowledge of the arts across three One River locations!
Ankita Bhowmick | Instructor
Ankita Bhowmick graduated from the New Jersey City University with a Masters of Fine Arts in Design and Crafts. She also has a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Textile Designing and Advance Diploma in Animation and Graphic Design. She worked as a textile design artist for years in New York City. She moved to teaching 4 years back and currently is an art teacher at a private school. Ankita’s favorite mediums are painting, sculpture and digital art. She is looking forward to being a resourceful addition to the highly talented team of One River and bringing a remarkable difference in her students' life with skill and creativity.
Matthew Esposito | Instructor
Matt Esposito was born and raised in Millburn NJ. He graduated from the School of Visual Arts in NYC with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Cartooning. He specializes in making comics and illustrations both digitally and traditionally. What drew Matt to teaching at One River was the ability to teach and allow students to develop their own world where they have a voice, a say, an impact in the art they make.
