Erin Champion | Director
Champion graduated from Mansfield University with a B.S. in Art Education, and from Marywood University with her Master's in Fine Art in Studio Art with a concentration in Printmaking. Erin has taught across all age groups and media, including many years at the college level.
Viviana Maciel | Director of Education
Maciel is a graduate of Kean University with a BFA in Studio Art. She specializes in drawing and sculpture, and uses both to explore the range of human emotions. A passion for guiding others in refining their craft led her to begin her teaching journey several years ago.
Kristin Stazzone | Assistant Director
Stazzone Graduated from High Point University with a B.A. in Studio Art with a focus in painting and minor in Events Management. She is a practicing acrylic painter and digital artist that focuses on abstract cityscapes drawing much of her inspiration from her love of traveling.
Barkley graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in School and Community Settings, and a minor in Psychology. She has been working with children for 9 years in a variety of settings and has been teaching art for 5 years. In undergrad, she focused on ceramics, but has gravitated towards painting both digitally, and in the studio. She is currently pursing a Masters degree in Social Work so she can eventually incorporate art making into her clinical practice.
Brown graduated from the College of New Jersey with a B.A. in Art Education. After a week as a fine art major, he realized education was where his true passions lay. Tim specializes in graphic comic art as well as colored pencil renderings. He currently is an elementary school art teacher at a nearby private school. He looks forward to sharing his talents with the students of One River, while also learning from the other great artists that are a part of the One River transformation.
Steven Lew graduated from New York Institute of Technology with a Master of Fine Arts and Technology in Computer Graphics, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation/Illustration from Montclair State University. He has worked as a freelance graphic designer and motion graphics artist in addition to teaching both graphic and web design. He is looking forward to sharing his skills and knowledge with other talented artists and students all expanding on their inner creativity..
Mike Moran graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Commercial Art. His illustrations/cartoons have been used in Children's books,major magazines, newspapers, animation, toy packaging, app games, and greeting cards. His clients are diverse and numerous, including Disney, American Greetings, Colgate, Trex Decking, Dial Books, Harper Collins, New York Times, Highlights, Scholastic INC., Major League Baseball, Boys' Life, Age of Learning/ABC Mouse, Readers Digest, Sky Pony Press, The Grammys and many more. Mike is a celebrated gallery artist who has had solo and group shows from New York City to Los Angeles. He has been also recognized by the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles and the Society of Published Designers. What drew him to One River was the opportunity to have students be creative all with a smile.
Gunther-Reilly is an award-winning educator and fine artist and has taught Art in public schools for over a decade. She also holds a degree in illustration from FIT and has worked professionally as a fine artist/illustrator since 1980. Her concentrations are in oils, portrait likeness as well as ceramic sculpture. Contemplative arts practices are a source for her creativity and she loves sharing her knowledge, skills and love of art with her students.
Witkowski graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor's Degree of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting. Since graduating, she has worked in the public and private education field from ages K-12. She has also taught art to adults separately in a studio open to the public. Julie specializes in textural and sculptural elements in painting. While frequently creating abstract paintings, Julie also continues to keep her art active by painting at live concerts and recreating vintage car and motorcycle banners. She is looking forward to creating and sharing all of her techniques with her students at One River!
Phelps is an illustrator and maker-of-things based in Northern NJ. She is a passionate freelance illustrator & educator. Her work encompasses digital illustration as well other mediums including traditional art (drawing, painting), sewing, embroidery and metalwork. Phelps holds a BFA in Illustration and is excited to pass on her love of creating visual art to all of her students.
Cheney is a multimedia artist and educator living in Brooklyn, NY. She received her MFA in Painting and Drawing from Pratt Institute in 2018, and has taught visual art to students ranging from preschool to undergraduate for the past six years. She creates painting, sculpture, and video that reflect our relationship with domestic space and the personal objects we carry throughout our lives. Abby excels in drawing, painting & mixed media and teaching K-12
Lawler is a digital artist and educator working in the fields of illustration and art science. He received his MFA from Montclair State, using EEG machines to record and interpret brain waves into sound & color based dynamic installations. He has spent 10+ years working in the digital illustration and comic fields and as an Adobe certified expert, has accumulated a vast expertise on skills related to all things illustration, digital painting and sequential art.
Abdallah is an interdisciplinary artist, independent curator, educator, and arts advocate. Her work is featured in public, private, and traveling collections in the U.S. and abroad. Yasmeen excels at teaching traditional studio practice in drawing & painting to students of all ages, including Adults. Abdallah has been a visiting artist, lecturer, and panelist at numerous arts, cultural, and educational institutions.
Arecibia is a teaching artist who focuses on using drawing and painting materials to establish large-scale, mixed media shadow boxes. Nicole excels at teaching: Kids, Middle school & Teens in traditional studio practices. Besides creating and teaching art, she enjoys being active with events like obstacle course racing, volleyball and crossfit. .
Rizzo is a fine artist (drawing & painting) living & working in New York City. With over 10 years of teaching experience, Ben applies his expertise (both in digital & traditional studio environment) to the classroom. Ben is primarily focused on teaching teens & adults, both in studio and digital.
Katz is an artist & educator with a focus on hand-drawn and digitally rendered animation, illustration and comics. His work fluctuates between fictional stories, personal works, and animation experiments. He received his BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and has been teaching since 2014. Dan has a personal focus on character development/design and world-building.
Salemme is a mixed media artist and writer, working as a middle school and high school art teacher for NJ public schools. Jackie has taught fine art to students in grades K-12. She received her Fine Arts and Creative Writing degrees from Montclair State University. Her work reflects an inspiration taken from history, antiques and nature. She lives in Ocean County with her pets; an old cat, a parakeet, and hedgehog!
Foley has been an art educator for the past 18 years. She has worked in private and public education and taught all age groups, even adults. Her background in mediums is vast (drawing, mixed media, painting, etc), although her true love is working in clay. She is certified in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate teaching of high school students.
Torres is a freelance artist, and an educator. He has worked on comics, trading cards, book covers, and provided art for TV productions. Some of his clientele include: Marvel, Dynamite, Netflix, and HBO. Torres’ studio specialization includes penciling, inking, painting, marker work and pastels. While his digital practice primarily includes Photoshop & procreate.
Maciel is a summa cum laude graduate of Kean University, where she received her BFA in Studio Art. She specializes in drawing and sculpture, and uses both to explore the range of human emotions. A passion for guiding others in refining their craft led her to begin her teaching journey several years ago. Since then, she had directed the Fine Art Department of a local art school before finding her calling at One River.
Stazzone graduated from High Point University in North Carolina in 2016 with a B.A. in Studio Art and minor in Events Management as well as traveled abroad to study at Studio Art International (SACI) in Florence, Italy. She worked as a Graphic Designer for several years prior to working at One River School of Art + Design. Kristin is a practicing oil and acrylic painter that focuses on abstract cityscapes drawing much of her inspiration from her love of traveling.
Donovan is a working artist who has exhibited nationally and internationally. He has interviewed many of the leading contemporary artists, and his writing has appeared in many publications, both in print and online. He graduated from University of Iowa with a degree in Painting. He has his graduate degree in Art History and Criticism from Stony Brook University.
